Listen Up....

I absolutely agree with this quote!

Our patience is often tested through life. If nothing is happening know that GOD is up to something. When everything is happening and you feel like it's just too much to handle, know that GOD will never give you a load you can not carry!

Patience is a virtue....Literally!!! Understand that on this journey of life we can only take the footsteps toward what we want to happen. Just because you feel you have the perfect "blueprint" to your life, doesn't mean it'll go exactly that way. They say we live in a "microwave society" because we want everything right away! Sometimes those "road blocks" in life are needed to show us the fruit of our labor. Don't give up! Stay focused on that big picture and remember...Your timing is NOT his timing!

Dear Students: Manage Your Work, Don't Let It Manage You!

Don't Give Up and Wave The White Flag....Prioritize!!

We are at that time of year again when the start of school is just around the corner. From freshman's to upper class, with work and or school, there just doesn't seem to be enough hours in a day to accomplish goals. But, in order to accomplish goals you first must set them! You know the saying "Failing to plan is planning to fail" right? Well, I firmly believe this now. I say now because in my younger years, I didn't really understand the importance of planning and prioritizing. I can proudly say that I now not only understand the importance but I 100% can appreciate the value planning and prioritizing brings.

If you need a little insight on how to plan and prioritize, check out these seven tips below for effectively managing your time and getting ahead!

Be Organized
  • Use Time saving tools: appointment calendars, "to do" list, file folders etc.
  • Make use of your appointment calendars for EVERYTHING including listing study time. You'd be surprised at how keeping a visual of what needs to be done helps.
  • Use your "to do" list for both long term and daily goals
Plan Ahead
  • Determine how long your task will take by giving yourself a realistic time frame.
  • Look at your schedule for the day and see if anything can be combined i.e: having to study and needing to visit the library as part of an assignment. Instead of saying "I'll study when I get home and I'll just work on my paper at the library, kill two birds with one stone and work on both at the library. Allocate time for studying and also time to work on your paper so that the only thing left to do at home is relax.
Prioritize Your Task
  • Try using an A-B-C rating system for your "to do" list with A being highest priority.
  • Although you want to knock out your "A" list items, never put off your B and C list items too long. Postponing your smaller task too long can get overlooked which will then become larger task and can result in you using more time and energy than needed. (keep in mind the point of time management is to create a stress free environment).
Avoid Overload
  • Your heath (mental and physical) is very important so be sure to include time for rest, relaxation, sleep, eating, exercise and socializing in your busy schedule.
  • Take short breaks during study periods.
  • Learn to say "NO" when appropriate and also to negotiate better deadlines when appropriate.
Create Effective Study Techniques
  • Have an appropriate study environment (quiet, clean and space appropriate).
  • Read for comprehension instead of just trying to get to the end of the chapter/book.
  • Take note during study of any clarity needed, rather than waiting until right before an exam.
  • Read the syllabus as soon as you get it and notate all due dates on your calendar.
Make Time For The Unexpected
  • The unexpected happens (car trouble, traffic, sickness etc.) so never give yourself "just enough" time.
  • Know how  to rearrange your schedule when necessary (remember: you mange your schedule, it doesn't manage you).
Have And Keep A Vision
  • Create a vision board so that you don't forget the "BIG" picture.
  • When starting a task or activity, ask yourself "is this important to your long-term/personal goals or "are your activities ultimately helping or hurting you in achieving your goals"?
  • Last but not least....with this vision try keeping a positive attitude. Negativity gets you NO WHERE! Negative thoughts lead to negative actions. Remember: Your attitude determines your altitude!

I hope you all enjoyed these tips that were initially created for students but really can be of great use for anyone. If you are already a highly planned and prioritized person, share this info with others. I'm sure we all know at least one person that can use some help in making their day easier!

Natural Low Cost Homemade Beauty Treatments From The Comfort Of Your Home...

We all want to have beautiful skin, whiter teeth and healthy hair right?

While reading up on some health tips, of course I had to share with you ladies and gents the info I found via http://specialsections.suntimes.com. Check them out below!

Skin (Facials & Scrubs):

Due to climate change, you may notice your skin to be a bit more dryer in the winter months and more oilier during the summer months. Whatever you experience, here are some face scrubs that may help!

Yogurt & Honey Mask

Mix 1-part plain yogurt and 1-part honey and apply to clean, moist face. Let it set for 10-15 minutes and rinse well with warm water. The mixture moisturizes, hydrates and soothes the skin. Honey can be used as a minor acne treatment.

Banana Facial Cream

Mash 1/2 of a ripe banana until creamy. Apply on face and leave for 15-20 minutes. Rinse with warm water and cold water to close pores. Pat dry.

Honey Oats Face Scrub

Combine 1 tablespoon honey, 1 tablespoon finely ground almonds, 2 tablespoons dry oatmeal and some lemon juice or yogurt to a luxurious and exfoliating facial scrub. Massage mixture gently onto face; then rinse with warm water. Use favorite moisturizer afterward.

Skin (Body Scrub/Exfoliant):
Everyone loves smooth skin right? Whether it's your legs, arms or feet...the smoother the better! Check out this homemade body scrub that exfoliates and smooths the skin!
Brown Sugar Lemony Body Scrub
This particular scrub has lemon, which works as a natural disinfectant. It will open up and cleanse clogged pores. The oils from the mixture will leave you with soft, healthy glowing skin.
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup sea salt
2 tbsp coconut oil or olive oil
1 tbsp of honey
2 tbsp of freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 tbsp of your favorite essential oil (I recommend bergamot for energy, eucalyptus or spearmint for stress relief and lavender or jasmine for something more relaxing.) Mix all the ingredients in a bowl until it turns into a paste. Apply to moist skin in circular motion using your fingertips to help skin cells slough off faster. Rinse off with warm water. Apply your favorite moisturizer. Results: smooth, soft glowing skin.

Feet (Foot Soak/Scrub):
When it comes to your feet, don't wait until its summertime to tend to them. Whether in sandals or sneakers keep your feet smooth and pretty! I know some women feel during the winter months when their feet are covered, they tend not to want to pay money for a pedicure with the notion "nobody 's seeing them anyway, why waist the money". Well, here's a foot soak/scrub that will require little spending if any. You may just have these items on hand already. Check it out!

Milk Foot Soak
Add 4 cups of warmed whole milk, 2 tablespoons of Epsom Salt and 6 drops of your favorite essential oil such as lemon, sandalwood or lavender to warm foot bath. Soak for 20 minutes. Use the Brown Sugar Lemony Body Scrub to remove dead skin on feet.

Teeth Whitener:

Healthy teeth are VERY important. In fact, I think this beauty treatment/tip is the MOST important of them all. I say that because if you have unhealthy teeth that can led to various gum diseases that can be dangerous to your overall health. Believe it or not, teeth play a huge role in health.  Now the fun part is having not only healthy teeth, but white teeth also! Gotta keep your teeth right for those "selfies"-lol!! Now, getting white teeth can be a process depending on the person. There are several whitening methods over the counter or if you feel you may need a stronger whitener, talk to your dentist and he'll give you your best alternatives. The below method is a natural mixture that should help remove minor stains.

Strawberry Bleach Mask

Celebrities, such as Catherine Zeta-Jones, swear by this. This natural mixture will remove any stains and discoloration on your teeth. Crush one ripe strawberry and mix 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda. Apply the mixture on teeth with toothbrush and let it set for 5 minutes; then brush with your regular toothpaste. Repeat once a week.

I hope you found these natural, low cost beauty/spa treatments interesting and are wiling to give them a try! Hey, I'm all for inexpensive spa treatments and I'm sure you are too! It never hurts to try right?

Self Reflection....

"Let the refining and improving of your own life keep you so busy that you have no time to criticize others"!!

Some people are so consumed with other people's lives that they rarely take the time to "self reflect" to see what needs improvement in their own life.

There isn't one single person on earth that has a perfect score across the board. I believe no matter how well put together things are in your life, there's always something that can use improvement.

Instead of criticizing the next person's life, choices or mistakes, take that same time and evaluate your own life!

We only get one life to live....
